Of course, you would think you could find this nugget of news on CNN.com but I’m pretty sure it has glided under all of the American news radars, simply because we are too worried about Christian Bale’s temper tantrums!
Anyways, the article from 20Minutes is about the court settlement over Jackson’s infamous Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction back in 2004. Apparently (and this is news to me), the FCC decided to sue CBS for airing the “lewd” material, asking for a reparation of $550,000 (or approximately €346,439, in case you were wondering).
A tribunal of three judges finally decided on Monday to rule in CBS’ favor, given that the “offensive” material only lasted a few seconds and that the event was completely accidental. I can see a couple conspiracy theories debating that latter point.
The journalist takes the time to call Americans sensitive pussies (this is a paratranslation on my part)– it’s just a boob for Christ’s sake! Who cares if Little Johnny saw it, give him a couple more years and he’ll see one in real life!
I also think it’s important to note that the picture attached to the French article is NOT censored, unlike the blurry shit they feed us here in the States. Coming from a country where a trip to the local beach will be greeted by many pairs of tétons, it’s no wonder the French don’t understand why Janet Jackson’s boob freaked out the whole nation.
Or is it just Janet Jackson?
