Aujourd’hui le mot du jour est: le maillot jaune
Today, the word of the day is: “the yellow suit” or “the yellow shirt”
This French phrase is used extensively during the Tour de France. Why? Because it’s the French name for the signature yellow shirt worn by the cyclist in the lead.
Exemple: Tu gagneras jamais le maillot jaune– tu montes encore à tricycle!
Example: You will never win the yellow shirt– you’re still riding a tricycle!
Note: Following colloquial patterns, I’ve omitted the “ne” of the negation pattern. Don’t bitch, just live with it.
